Hi, friends! I’m Kacey.

I am a quilter, technical editor, pattern tester, educator, researcher/author, and dog mom.

I grew up around my Nana and her sewing machine, and I was gifted my first machine as a teenager. I used it off and on over the years, taking a big break from making when I graduated college and started teaching Junior High English. During grad school, I experienced terrible burnout from coursework, writing, and teaching, and I needed a creative outlet outside of my identity as an educator. I turned to quilting, and I haven’t looked back!

Six months or so into my quilting journey, I started pattern testing. I quickly realized that using my writing and editing skills from my role as an educator and academic - English teacher, academic journal editor and peer reviewer, researcher, and author - in my quilting life is pretty dang fulfilling. With encouragement from pattern designers and friends, I’ve landed here – offering technical editing services for quilt patterns as my main gig.

I share more about my quilty makes, my pup, Jax, and my day-to-day life over on my Instagram page.

Every person deserves a safe space in the quilting community.

I believe in fighting for what’s right, doing better as soon as we know better, and actively working to always learn more.
